Isaac Silber is a 6th year PhD candidate in Performance Studies at New York University, where his research focuses on the entanglement between underground forms of music-making, black feminist and queer of color critique, and the dissolution of whiteness and/as individual subjectivity. His dissertation project, entitled “Sounds of Love Entangled: On Music-Making Between Philadelphia and New York City,” explores entanglements between soul and dance music in the interplay between Philadelphia, New York, and their intra-connected elsewheres. He has presented work in the form of papers, workshops and performance/lectures at the Center for Performance Research, NYU’s PRAXIS, Inc., the International Association for the Study of Popular Music’s Annual Pop Conference, and the Mid-Atlantic Popular and American Culture Conference.
